Kryshan started 2012 with a new job as Film Project Coordinator for the brand new FRAMES Film Project, for which three classes of Vancouver at-risk youth will receive film training and support over a two-year period.

REQUIEM FOR A C.H.U.D, a short film Kryshan produced for this year's Bloodshots horror competition, was voted Best Makeup and FX and came in second place for the Audience Choice Award. The film has been invited to the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival where JACK had its premiere and is currently being recut for its festival run.

JACK has been picked up by Shorts International, primary distributor of short films for iTunes. Their plan includes releasing the short via iTunes in over 23 countries; broadcasting JACK on their ShortsHD channel in Taiwan, Turkey, France and the United States; including JACK as part of their upcoming video on demand release; and a theatrical release across the United States.

DREAM GREEN, an environmental lipdub music video which Kryshan co-directed with Ivan Mak, is now online and can be viewed here. The video, in which hundreds of elementary and high school students showcase their environmental efforts as the Red camera Steadicams throughout an entire school, was created in partnership with BioCYCLE and Pull Focus Film School.

Paul Anthony's comedy variety show TALENT TIME will air prime time and late night on Shaw TV commencing October 2011, and starting with the first season of the show which Kryshan directed and produced in 2009.

JACK wins its third major film festival award - the Jury Prize for best horror film at the Sharpcuts Indie Film and Music Festival in Guelph, Ontario.

JACK has five screenings at four upcoming film festivals in April and May: 9:30 p.m. April 17 at the Calgary Underground Film Festival, screening with RUBBER; 8:30 p.m. April 22 as part of the Mauvais Genre Festival in Tours, France; April 28 as part of the Sharpcuts Indie Film and Music Festival in Guelph, Ontario; and May 5 and 6 at Weekend Of Fear in Erlangen, Germany.

Kryshan's short film GLIMPSE has been sold to the short film channel Movieola. Airdates TBA.

Kryshan directed and edited a music video for FNDMNTL's new song Minutiae, incorporating clips from Gaspar Noe's film ENTER THE VOID. The video is now online on the band's YouTube page.

Kryshan begins teaching filmmaking to elementary school children as part of Toronto's Director's Cut Program; stop motion animation, music videos, documentaries, short films and movie trailers.

JACK continues its critical acclaim in the December installment of The Shorts Report, where it is listed as one of Canada's most watchable short films of 2010.

Kryshan completed directing principal photography in Germany for the second episode of the web series LIBELLE (formerly DRAGONFLY), an environmental action series produced by Julia Dordel and Anita Reimer with additional support from the David Suzuki Foundation. The show is currently in post-production.

Kryshan was listed as one of Canada's top filmmakers to watch in the November installment of the National Screen Institute's online column about filmmaking. Kryshan was listed as part of a select group of filmmakers that have "now proven that investment in their futures has paid off. They make shorts that transport the viewer into a world that only these voices could speak...you'll be hearing a lot about all of them in the years to come."

JACK continues its successful festival run with five screenings in October: 6:45 p.m. October 8 and 1 p.m. October 10 at the world's number one genre festival Sitges in Barcelona; 11 p.m. October 16 as part of Moving Image Film Festival's Death By Night program in Toronto; 11 p.m. October 22 as part of imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival's Witching Hour program also in Toronto; and 2 p.m. October 27 as part of Fantastic Week in Nice, France.

The short horror film JACK was a critical favorite at Toronto's CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival, garnering many strong reviews from such publications as CityTV News, Exclaim! Magazine, Rue Morgue Magazine, Toronto Film Scene, Examiner.com and The More The Merrier Arts Radio; as well as recommendations from The National Post and Panic Manual. JACK has also just been invited to screen at Montreal's Fantasia Festival in July.

The multi-awarding winning short horror film JACK has been requested to screen at Toronto's CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival, midnight June 4 at the Cumberland 3 theatre. A new page on the site has been created for JACK: kryshanrandel.com/jack.

Kryshan is in Mexico until mid-May as Visiting Professor for the Digital Arts Program at CEDIM, teaching the basics of filmmaking to all program classes at the Monterrey art and design university.

ARTLESS, a 30 second PSA created to fight B.C's proposed 92% funding cuts, is now online here. ARTLESS has received thousands of hits since its YouTube premiere a few days ago, and has been spotlighted on the Facebook and Twitter pages of many of BC's top entertainers. It is currently being screened in classrooms, movie theatres and TV stations across the province.

JACK won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2009 Bloodshots competition, judged by Dan O'Bannon (creator/writer of ALIEN, writer of TOTAL RECALL, writer/director of RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD). O'Bannon acclaimed the film's effective blend of humor and horror. The new cut of JACK was also completed today and being submitted for a 2010 festival run.

JACK received several awards at the 2009 Bloodshots competition: the Audience Choice Award, Best Death and Best Script for writer Marilyn Thomas. JACK is currently eligible for the Grand Jury Prize judged by Dan O'Bannon (writer of TOTAL RECALL, creator and writer of ALIEN), which will be announced in mid-November.

GLIMPSE has been awarded the National Screen Institute's $2,500 A & E Short Filmmakers Award, which recognizes outstanding works in the NSI Online Short Film Festival. "Glimpse's universal story of break-up with an almost science fiction twist permitted the short drama, great comedy and a "Will She Find 'The One?'" hook. With strong performances, great directing, interesting visual devices and a complete story, Glimpse rose to number one for us quite quickly and easily," said the jury, who were unanimous in their decision. Vancouver's premier short film-related event Crazy8s has hired Kryshan as their Associate Producer and Podcast Producer / Director. Kryshan will be co-ordinating sponsorship, doing grassroots publicity and directing a series of behind-the-scenes Podcasts and an official ten year anniversary documentary, 6.8.10. After being banned from YouTube for its violent content, THE BULLY SOLUTION is back! The twisted and controversial "after school special" is now viewable on the new local website www.VancouverIAM.com.

Kryshan completes directing the principal photography for the TV pilot demo PROMOTER, about the high-stakes world of Vancouver stock-market promotion. Series creators are Gemini Award winning Ken Craw (writer on "Robson Arms", writer / producer of "Ben Johnson, Drugs & the Quest for Gold") and Michael Hamilton (producer of "The Journey" and "The Millennials"). The show is currently in post-production and will be completed by the end of May.

Kryshan is hired to direct the new television series THE REAL ESTATE MINUTE, focusing on various Vancouver real estate topics, and hosted by the experts themselves. The bi-weekly series will be airing on Novus Television beginning mid-April.

THE BULLY SOLUTION screens at 8 p.m. The Pacific Cinematheque on Tuesday April 1, as part of Terminal Cinema, a night of underground short films.

Kryshan is hired to teach filmmaking part-time beginning in April at Kaleidoscope a film program for youth.

Kryshan finished his latest short film LEROY JENKINS, a dark comedy about video game obsession produced as part of Vancouver Film School's Portfolio Shorts program. The film will be screened in late March; date TBA.

The Great Canadian Commercial Contest launches their new website - www.thecommercialcontest.com. Executive producers working with Kryshan on the upcoming event are Ian Imrie, Martin Prihoda and Travis Junck.

Kryshan, in partnership with Dave Roncin, begins producing a weekly event called Film School, for which films new and old (and often obscure) are screened in a movie theatre on DVD or Blu-Ray formats followed by a brief analysis / discussion, every Tuesday evening.
